Tarun himself worked several part-time jobs, but says, I am from a poor family, yet I am studying arts in the final year of my degree.

Tarun also has a karate academy in Khanna, Punjab, where he trains more than 1400 underprivileged girls. His initiative is bringing a positive change in the society, despite the many financial and physical challenges he himself is facing.

Despite Tarun struggle, he has received little support from the government. He says, I appeal to the government to help me so that the youth can get inspired after seeing me and stay away from drugs. He believes that now is the time for the government to provide the best support to every athlete.
Respect and Inspiration
Khanna police honored Tarun when he won the bronze medal in the Asian Karate Championship held in Malaysia. Senior Superintendent of Police Amneet Kondal presented him with a karate kit, honor plaque and cash prize, which became a source of inspiration for him.
Instructor’s Contribution
Tarun’s trainer, ASI Rajesh Kumar Joshi, has been training him for the last 20 years. Rajesh Kumar Joshi himself serves as ASI (Punjab Police) and gives free karate training. Under his guidance many players have won medals at national and international levels.
